Freda Psooy originally from the Interlake area of Manitoba, made Winnipeg her permanent home while raising her family and pursuing a 32 year career as teacher and psychologist.

Following retirement, while exploring many creative avenues, Freda returned to her former love of sketching and painting and discovered a passion for the many facets of watercolour and mixed media. The luminosity and fluidity of watercolour was quickly incorporated into portraiture, florals, landscape, collage and abstracts, influenced by instructors such as Alex Suprowich, Arne Westerman, Linda Kemp, Brian Atyeo, Jan Kunz and Karlyn Holman. Painting for Freda is about spontaneity and intuitive freedom of expression based on her personal and emotional interpretation of the subject.

Freda has returned to reaching local watercolour groups sharing her theoretical knowledge and techniques. She currently paints with a studio group in Charleswood. Her original paintings can be found in local galleries and in private collections across Canada, U.S.A. and Europe.
